What is RAM, what are its types and uses?
Do you know
what RAM is , then you must have heard these words very often. Whenever you go
to buy a mobile and computer, then you definitely ask how much GB of RAM is
there, some people also think that if there is more RAM then there will not be
a mobile hang, it will not be slow, is it true about it You will also know
today in this article.
Some also
believe that if RAM is always empty, then Mobile Speed will run and a
question comes, what is the work of RAM, you will also get the answer, with this
and some things will also be talked about Primary Memory, so let's know RAM.
What is that called.

- What is memory and how many types are there?
So like
whatever work we want to do, we keep the work stored in a place so that as we
remember it and the name of the place is the mind, there is a lot of memory
inside the computer, which is also called storage, Computer Memory is a place
where we store data and instruction, which we can extract data from that memory
whenever we want.
So how does the computer know which data and Instruction is placed on it, then for this, the computer memory is divided into small accounts and the size of this is the same, these accounts are called Cell.
What is RAM, what are its types and uses?
The address
of each cell is known to which the Memory Address is called. And memory address
means the address of the cell, Computer through this address searches the data
where it is hidden (data such as your Mobile Number, Mp3, Video, File) They all
live in a cell, cell address starts from 0. The number of cells in which the
cell is divided is one less than its last address. For example, take a memory
of 5KB and have a cell size of 1 byte, then the memory is 5 × 1024 = 5120
cells, that means the blocks will be made and so 5120 will be the address.
Although
there are mainly 3 types of memory in a computer, they all have different
functions and specialties.
1. Primary Memory
2. Secondary Memory
3. Cache Memory
But I will
talk about Primary Memory in this article.
What is
primary memory ?
This memory is
also called Main Memory, this memory holds the same data and instruction which
the computer currently uses. The space of this memory remains limited, as long
as the data remains in it, as long as power means electricity remains when the
data off the power disappears.
It is made
of semiconductor. They have a lower speed than the registers. Whatever data and
instruction remains inside the computer is processed in this main memory. Its
two categories are first
1. RAM
2. ROM
What is RAM
?
RAM's full
form is Random Access Memory, also called Direct Access Memory. This memory
remains in a low size in the computer at most times. It is less as compared to
Secondary Memory like Mobile has up to 1GB, 2GB, 3GB, 4GB, 6GB.
So the next
question comes, what is the work of RAM? Whenever you run your mobile, you play
games in it, you run a lot of applications, edit, etc. For all this, mobile
needs space and it comes from Space RAM itself.
And let me
take a simple example, when you play cricket, if you do not go to the bathroom
or do not play in it, then for that you need more space such as Playground or
street, so whenever you work in mobile all day long. RAM is the memory in which
all the work is done, so it is said that if the RAM is more, then the more
applications can run simultaneously in your mobile.
What RAM
does when you watch a movie or listen to a song, it resides in the song or
Movie memory card, what the CPU does is take the movie out of the memory card
and play the movie in RAM. The more application you run simultaneously, the
more RAM will be used.
And there
will be Mobile Slow or Hang up, so keep RAM as free as possible. It becomes
empty when the power sieve stops inside the mobile. Well, understand that your
mobile phone stops, that means if you keep 4 to 5 applications open in your
mobile and close your mobile and turn on again, then you must have seen all
your applications are closed, so this Memory is also called Volatile Memory,
you know what RAM is. Now we will know the characteristics of RAM.
Why is it
called Random Access Memory?
Data and
instructions in RAM are stored in Cells. Each cell is made up of a few rows and
columns .
There is a
que address. It is also called Cell Path. CPUs can receive different data from
these Cells. And that too without any sequence means that the data available in
RAM can be randomly accessed. Due to its similar feature, this memory is named
Random Access Memory.
What are
the characteristics of RAM ?
You know
about RAM, but you know what its properties are, you should also know.
1. RAM is
Volatile Memory.
2. It is
more expensive than other memory.
3. Its
Capacity is less as compared to Secondary Memory.
4. Talking
about speed, it is much faster than Secondary Memory.
5. This
memory becomes empty when the power is turned off.
6. All
Program, Application, Instruction run in this memory only.
7. CPU uses
this memory.
8. It is
also said to be the working memory of the computer.
RAM Type
Now I will
tell you what are the types of RAM and what are they, there are two types.
1. Static RAM
2. Dynamic RAM
1. What is
static RAM
This is
being known from the Static Sabbath, it is stable which means that the data
will remain in it till the electricity comes in it. It is also called SRAM. It
uses Chip 6 Transistor and no capacitor, transistors do not need power to
prevent leakage. This power means Electricity.
There is no
need to refresh it again and the data remains constant. SRAM needs more chips
than DRAM. To store data of the same size. So SRAM costs more to build than
DRAM, so SRAM is used according to Cache Memory, Cache Memory is the fastest.
Characteristic
of SRAM
It lasts for
many days.
No need to
refresh it again and again.
Is quite
fast.
This is the
cache used for cache memory.
Its size is
more.
It is
expensive than others.
He needs
more power.
2. What is
Dynamic RAM
It is also
called DRAM, which is the complete opposite of SRAM. It needs to be refreshed
again and again, if the data has to be maintained. This can only be possible
when this memory is combined with a refresh CIRCUIT.
Most of the
time this DRAM is used to make System Memory. This DRAM is made up of a
Capacitor and a Transistor.
Characteristics
of DRAM
- This is lasts for a few days.
- It needs to be refreshed again and again.
- Is quite slow.
- This is the cache used for cache memory.
- Its size is less.
- Is cheaper than others.
- He wants less power.
What are
the benefits of having more RAM?
Think your
computer is a furniture shop.
Where a CPU
core is a carpenter, this means that a dual core CPU has two carpenters working
simultaneously, four carpenters in a quad core CPU and so on. So the more core
the better for you.
Here you can
think of RAM as a workspace (which includes workbenches, tables, and other
working spaces), so the more RAM there is, the more work space will also be
available to the "carpenters" (CPU cores) to work with. With this,
they can do their work equally fast.
You can
consider the hard drive as the storage area, where all the tools are kept until
they are needed by the carpenter.
At the same
time, due to the large work area (more RAM), the carpenter working there has to
run less part in carrying his tools, which leads to greater overall speed to
work.
From here
you must have known how having more RAM increases both the efficiency and speed
of working. Therefore, having more RAM has its own advantages, which is
reflected in the performance of the computer.
Is there any
difference between the phone's RAM and the PC's RAM?
LPDDR is
used in most mobile processors while PCDDR is used in computers.
LPDDR has
full form of low power double data synchronous RAM. PCDDR has the full form of
standard Double data synchronous RAM.
These two
RAMs differ in power from each other. Mobile RAM is designed to save more
power, while PC RAM is designed to increase performance.
Most mobile
processors are designed using ARM architecture. At the same time, PC RAM is
made according to the Intel’s x86 architecture.
Mobile
processors are primarily designed to strike a balance between performance and
power, compared to PC RAM.
What did
you teach today?
So friends,
what is RAM in today's article (What is RAM), how should you tell us in the
comment. I hope you find this information useful to you.
All of you
must also have targeted that the capacity of RAM is increasing day by day, as a
result the speed of mobile will also increase, while you will be able to do
many tasks at the same time without any lag. What is the difference between
SRAM and DRAM?
